As I look back on the first weekend of EDL 279 I find myself with a mix of emotions. I am mostly excited about all that transpired. Our discussions on management and leadership helped us realize or reinforced the notion that an administrator should be well balanced in their management and leadership skills if they are to be successful. It only makes sense that one focus on the management aspect of the job before moving too deeply in the leadership direction but it was nice to work together coming to this conclusion as well as having Dr. Buckmiller agree this is the first step.
Where I was and still am apprehensive is the introduction to and requirement to use Twitter. I had very little background knowledge other than seeing how professional athletes would "open mouth...insert foot" with their tweets that after they put them out there would try and clarify what they were really trying to say. Until last weekend, I had not really given much thought to how beneficial this tool could be in the education profession. I now realize that we are able to communicate and get ideas from other educators around the country as well as around the world. I am still not completely comfortable with Twitter, but I have much less anxiety than a week ago.
